The other six have perished, I'm all that's left. The battle continues.
Seven great kings rode swiftly toward Thebes; one among them a cursed man. They approached it's great walls built so long ago by only the playing of Amphion's lyre. Seven great warriors protected the gates of Thebes against her attackers; their king a cursed man. The battle raged on throughout the night, both sides ravaged. Finally, the two cursed men, brothers, met in battle for all of Thebes. But neither would possess her, each striking the other with a fatal blow. Dante would later condemn them to live out eternity in his 8th circle of hell, reserved for the divisive. Yet, Thebes remained. What is Thebes? It is both reality and myth. It is power, it is control, it is what I was promised. It is everything inside of me that I wish to purge. It is my curse. So I will continue to fight where others have fallen, until she is no more. The battle continues...

I hate to be an ass... Except when it comes to math. Regarding the "'16.8%' of total American credit card debt for 2007 [...] in November and December": that doesn't seem like very drastic. If I did my math right, the average per-month spending ought to be approximately 8.33%, which, for two months would be 16.67%. And actually, since the sum of days in November and December is slightly above average, it's 16.71%. So 16.8% is not much higher, though it is a definite increase.
I must say I do agree with the idea of less spending for Christmas, and in general for that matter, and more giving.
